Job description
About qlub and Role Overview
qlub revolutionizes the restaurant payment experience by eliminating delays typically faced at the end of meals. Their platform enables guests to scan QR codes and pay instantly without any downloads or apps, enhancing hospitality and operational efficiency. Backed by major investors like Mastercard and Mubadala, the company is scaling rapidly and seeking innovative engineers who leverage AI agent-driven development.
Role Responsibilities
- Direct AI agents to architect, build, and manage secure, reliable payment services tailored for salons, including features like checkout processing, booking deposits, tip management, refunds, reconciliation, and settlements.
- Own API integrations and collaborations with salon management platforms, booking systems, payment providers, financial partners, and other third-party services executed through AI agents.
- Create comprehensive specifications, acceptance criteria, test suites, and evaluation methods to validate agent outputs based on evidence rather than manual code reviews.
- Design and oversee the agentic development lifecycle, determining agent responsibilities, prompts, context, and ensuring their outputs are properly merged, checked, and deployed.
- Develop AI-powered agentic tools for salons and internal teams that can answer client queries, manage exceptions in booking and payments, and handle reconciliation by leveraging retrieval and controlled workflows.
- Implement robust security measures including permissions, human approval workflows, guardrails, observability, audit trails, and fallback mechanisms for agents handling sensitive financial and client data or calendars.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in speed, reliability, security, and cost efficiency, including optimization of LLM and agent expenses.
Candidate Profile
- Experienced in using AI agents as primary development tools, rather than as mere support to manual coding.
- Proven track record of shipping production-grade software swiftly in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
- Comfortable making impactful decisions with limited information and taking full ownership with an operator mindset.
- Passionate about solving complex challenges in payments, beauty and wellness, and enhancing client experiences.
- Adheres to evidence-driven development; prioritizes testing, measurement, and observability over superficial completion.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable experience delivering production software using AI coding agents.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Strong analytical and communication abilities.
- Hands-on expertise with large language model APIs, tool integrations, retrieval-augmented generation, and deploying agentic workflows in real environments.
- Deep understanding of system design principles including RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, asynchronous and distributed processing.
- Proficiency in databases, data modeling, and schema design.
- Familiarity with payment systems, booking or POS solutions, and complex third-party integrations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of AI system risks such as hallucinations, prompt injections, data leaks, non-deterministic behaviors, and methodologies for mitigating these risks.
- Experience implementing automated testing frameworks, evaluation methods, performance monitoring, debugging, and optimization.
Desired But Not Mandatory
- Domain experience in fintech payments, beauty and wellness tech, booking platforms, or marketplace models.
- Background working with payment gateways, transaction flows, settlements, reconciliations, and chargeback processing.
- Building agents capable of interacting with APIs, databases, internal tools, and operational workflows.
- Understanding of model evaluation techniques, prompt/context management, AI observability and guardrails, as well as LLM cost control strategies.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent coding agents and their safety tooling including continuous integration pipelines.
- Exposure to vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, and advanced retrieval mechanisms.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, containerization, continuous integration/deployment, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Knowledge of security standards such as PCI DSS, GDPR and secure software development practices.
What qlub Offers
- Ownership over impactful products used by millions globally in dining and hospitality sectors.
- Opportunities to tackle challenging problems at the intersection of payments, hospitality, and user experience.
- Dynamic environment where innovation and ideas rapidly go from concept to reality.
- Collaboration with experienced operators, technology builders, and sector experts.
- Opportunity to contribute visibly to one of the fastest-growing restaurant technology firms worldwide.
