Team and Role Overview

The Ad Engineering Team focuses on building a highly scalable and available real-time advertising platform essential for Roku's growing ad business. We seek a Senior Software Engineer to create complex systems with high performance and availability. This role combines strong technical expertise with collaboration and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a skilled engineering team to design, develop, and maintain scalable real-time applications.
• Own feature development by working directly with product and other engineering teams.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Champion best software development practices across developers, QA, and operations.
• Promote platform innovation and reuse to optimize efficiency.
• Deliver high-quality software within scheduled timelines.

Qualifications and Skills

• Over 10 years' experience building large-scale, low-latency distributed systems.
• Proficient in Java or C++ programming languages.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance tuning, object-oriented design, multithreading, and real-time programming.
• Experience with distributed caching, SQL/NoSQL databases is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Big Data technologies and cloud platforms like AWS or GCP is a plus.
• Background in advertising technology is highly desirable.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Self-driven, accountable, and results-oriented mindset.
• Ability to think critically and make practical decisions.
• Collaborative, nonpolitical, and team-focused attitude.
• Strong desire to excel within a competitive industry.
• Demonstrated curiosity and literacy in AI, including experience or exploration with Generative AI tools and frameworks.

Working Environment and Culture
