Job Overview

The Senior Software Engineer role is responsible for architecting, building, and continuously enhancing customer-focused software products through hands-on development and solid engineering standards. Collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams, the role requires delivering high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions that provide substantial customer value. This position involves taking ownership of complex technical challenges from ideation through production, contributing to architectural and technology decisions, and leading by example through mentorship, improving development practices, and ensuring software meets reliability, security, and product objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain robust, scalable software solutions aligned with agreed technologies to deliver valuable product features and updates.
  • Manage full ownership of complex tasks, covering requirements gathering, solution design, delivery, deployment, and ongoing production support to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Work collaboratively with Product Managers, Designers, Business Analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, participate in solution design, and communicate progress, risks, and results effectively.
  • Provide input on architecture and technical direction, ensuring that solutions meet performance, reliability, security, service level, and data protection standards.
  • Lead engineering standards by applying and evolving coding best practices, conducting peer reviews, and ensuring software quality.
  • Proactively identify and manage technical, operational, and security risks, implementing risk mitigation tactics as necessary.
  • Mentor colleagues through coaching, knowledge sharing, and feedback to enhance team competence and elevate engineering maturity.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Possess a tertiary degree in Information Technology or an equivalent qualification relevant to software development.
  • Extensive practical experience in designing and developing applications using .NET technologies, focusing on building efficient, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Proven experience in creating modern web applications leveraging contemporary frontend frameworks and technologies.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft development tools and technologies, including but not limited to .NET, MVC, Web API, Entity Framework, and SQL databases.
  • Hands-on experience with TypeScript and at least one modern frontend framework such as Svelte, Vue.js, Angular, or React.
  • Solid background in automated testing techniques, including unit testing with frameworks like Jest or Jasmine and frontend/end-to-end testing tools such as Cypress or Playwright.
  • Practical knowledge of implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines covering both frontend and .NET systems.
  • Ability to navigate and contribute within a heterogeneous technology environment and integrate multiple systems.
  • Strong analytical skills that support solution design and balanced decision-making regarding technical trade-offs.
  • Expertise in database design, querying, optimization, and data modeling for relational databases.
  • Experience working within agile teams and applying agile development methodologies effectively.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure concepts such as virtualization, cloud services, and system monitoring.
  • Knowledge of Agile project tools and CI/CD utilities like JIRA, Confluence, and GIT.
  • Awareness of other Microsoft products and services including Azure, Dynamics, and Visio 365.
