Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

Propellerhead seeks a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to join our core engineering team under the leadership of the CTO. Your mission will be to research and shape future technical strategies for both Propellerhead and our clients. Our engineering team supplies the essential tools, methods, and software libraries that enable our service development teams to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and investigations to define technical solutions that align with the CTO's vision.
• Engage hands-on in designing and building software across full-stack layers encompassing code architecture, deployment systems, DevOps, automated testing, and third-party system integrations, focusing heavily on leveraging large language models (LLMs) rather than traditional hand-coding.
• Collaborate closely with client stakeholders and internal teams to ensure mutual understanding of solution designs and delivery roadmaps within agreed budget constraints.
• Lead the transition of existing polyglot codebases to standardized Rust and TypeScript languages, moving towards more portable and consistent deployment frameworks, while mentoring team members to embed these technical strategies organization-wide.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 7 years as a software developer or engineer handling enterprise-grade complexities.
• Strong expertise in an enterprise-class programming language such as C# .NET or Java with Spring.
• Experience with low-level languages like Rust (highly preferred) or C++ for application or systems development.
• Proficiency with TypeScript, front-end frameworks like React, and solid grasp of web application development.
• Hands-on experience deploying solutions on cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, including building CI/CD pipelines and using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
• Demonstrated capability in software design for distributed, asynchronous architectures, particularly microservices and messaging systems where you played a lead role.
• Proven adoption of LLMs to accelerate development and improve system safety, along with the ability to generate clear, concise design documentation assisted by LLMs.
• Excellent communication skills for bridging requirements and technical implementations.
