Key Responsibilities

  • Address and resolve intricate technical challenges, enhancing system reliability and performance in alignment with architectural guidance.
  • Uphold high code quality standards by actively participating in code reviews, technical discussions, and mentoring activities to support team growth and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, manage production incidents, and facilitate learning from these events.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced engineers, assisting in code reviews and decisions.
  • Contribute to recruitment by engaging in hiring processes and technical interviews.

Technologies and Tools

  • Java 21 with Spring framework (including Spring Boot and Spring Security)
  • Reactive programming using Project Reactor and Netty
  • Asynchronous APIs
  • Event-driven messaging platforms like Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD
  • Continuous integration and deployment pipelines
  • PostgreSQL database with schema design and query optimization
  • Testing frameworks and methodologies: TDD, BDD, JUnit, Testcontainers, WireMock, DBUnit
  • Monitoring and observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Micrometer
  • Version control with Git (Bitbucket/GitLab) and issue tracking using Jira
  • Front-end frameworks (React or Angular) and TypeScript for auxiliary tooling
  • End-to-end test automation using Playwright

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field, or comparable practical experience.
  • Five or more years of professional experience in backend software development delivering sophisticated software solutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and operating scalable, high-throughput, and low-latency APIs.
  • Proficient knowledge of event-driven or publish-subscribe architecture such as Kafka.
  • Experience working with production systems bound by stringent uptime and latency requirements; familiarity with real-time data contexts is advantageous.
  • Advanced programming skills in Java 21, including building microservices with latest Spring technologies.
  • Experience with real-time and asynchronous APIs, including WebSocket and RESTful services, and use of reactive programming paradigms.
  • Practical knowledge of developer tools like Maven, CI/CD platforms (e.g., Bamboo, ArgoCD), Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Competence in database engineering, specifically PostgreSQL and optionally Liquibase for migrations.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL and caching solutions like Redis.
  • Strong commitment to automated testing and quality assurance using JUnit, TDD/BDD, Testcontainers, WireMock, and SonarQube.
  • Hands-on experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, including designing message producers and consumers.
  • Use of monitoring systems including Prometheus, Micrometer, and Grafana.
  • Some experience with front-end technologies and end-to-end automation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry background in iGaming, sports betting, or working with real-time sports data.
  • Certifications related to Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues relevant to regulated sectors like data licensing or gambling.
  • Experience with testing tools such as Selenium or Cypress.
