Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, and maintaining backend services that support Sage AI Labs' checkout infrastructure and consumer-facing applications. This full-time remote opportunity involves creating scalable system architectures, producing high-quality code, reviewing peers' contributions, and enhancing the performance and reliability of live services. Close collaboration with product management, data teams, and machine learning experts is required to introduce new features, improve API interfaces, and guarantee secure, dependable transaction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement backend systems supporting checkout and consumer application functionalities.
• Write efficient, maintainable code and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Enhance system performance and reliability of production services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly.
• Optimize deployment workflows and contribute to maintaining technical documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster knowledge sharing within the team.
• Participate actively in architectural and technical discussions shaping future roadmaps.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong Computer Science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
• Proficient in building robust production-grade software services.
• Hands-on experience with backend development, including APIs, microservices, and database management.
• Solid grasp of Object-Oriented Programming principles and design patterns.
• Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure as well as container orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with secure coding standards, performance tuning, and observability techniques.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in remote, cross-functional teams with excellent English communication.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or relevant technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Background in commerce, fintech, or AI-empowered products is advantageous.
