We are seeking an experienced senior back-end developer to take full ownership of end-to-end backend solutions, influencing the team’s engineering practices from API creation and data design to service deployment, reliability management, and product launches. The role embraces modern coding methods, including AI-assisted development tools.
Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain backend services responsible for financial transactions and managing multi-currency balances, involving areas like onboarding, KYC/KYB compliance, payment initiation, foreign exchange, settlements, and auxiliary systems.
- Drive collaborative delivery efforts alongside product managers, compliance teams, and operations from ideation through to production release.
- Lead integration efforts with partners and the underlying settlement systems relevant to your domain.
- Oversee production environment health, ensuring high reliability, observability, participation in on-call rotations, and prompt incident management.
- Conduct design evaluations, establish technical strategies within your focus area, and provide guidance to mid-level engineering staff.
- Consistently utilize AI-based coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code during the software development lifecycle and collaborate with architects on transitioning legacy services to the latest technology stacks.
Candidate Profile
- 6 to 10 or more years of practical experience developing robust backend services with comprehensive ownership.
- Expertise in back-end programming, notably with C# and .NET frameworks; proficiency in other object-oriented languages like Java, Kotlin, or Go is also valued.
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational database concepts.
- Experience in test writing and maintenance to ensure code quality.
- Regular use of AI-powered coding assistants throughout development processes.
- Hands-on production experience with AWS infrastructure, including deployment, CI/CD pipelines, and services like SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, and Lambda.
- Strong know-how in system architecture, emphasizing service-oriented or microservices designs and event-driven architectures.
- Previous work experience within payments, foreign exchange, or other regulated sectors.
- Proven leadership abilities in mentoring engineers, steering design discussions, and making critical architectural decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with ledger systems, double-entry bookkeeping, or financial data management.
- Experience participating in recruitment processes like interviewing and onboarding.
- Background in leading platform upgrades or technology migrations.
- Knowledge of caching technologies such as Memcached or Redis.
- Use of project management and documentation tools, for example, Jira and Confluence.
- Competence with API testing utilities like Postman or Bruno.
- Ability to write automated tests assisted by AI tools.
Benefits
- Attractive salary package with performance-related bonuses.
- Starting with 23 days of annual leave, increasing up to 28 days based on tenure.
- A birthday leave day annually.
- 4% employer pension contributions.
- Discounts through the Euronet Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP).
- Comprehensive life cover, income protection, and critical illness insurance.
- Access to healthcare services.
- Support through Plumm Mental Health and Wellbeing programs.
- Dedicated volunteer day to contribute to a charity of personal choice.
