Job description

Job Overview

This role involves providing support for application incidents across digital platforms, working in collaboration with Platform Engineering, Application Development, and customer support teams to ensure issues are resolved promptly in line with SLAs and escalation protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor the Elastic Observability stack, including Elasticsearch cluster health, Kibana, Fleet Server, APM Server, and Elastic Agent, all deployed via ECK on OKE.
  • Assist with daily Elasticsearch operations such as managing index lifecycle (ILM), snapshot lifecycle (SLM), data tier housekeeping across hot, warm, cold, and frozen tiers, and monitoring capacity.
  • Troubleshoot telemetry ingestion challenges for logs, metrics, traces, and synthetic monitors to ensure consistent data collection across platforms.
  • Maintain and update Kibana dashboards, alerting rules, and saved objects under the supervision of the SRE Manager.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and take part in blameless post-incident reviews to enhance system reliability and prevent repeat issues.
  • Work with Platform Engineering to automate routine tasks, optimize deployment pipelines, and expand observability coverage by utilizing Terraform, Helm charts, and scripting.
  • Create and upkeep support documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base entries aligned with standardized incident response processes.
  • Manage and prioritize incidents and requests through ticketing systems such as Jira and ServiceNow, ensuring all actions and resolutions are properly documented.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and strive to reduce operational toil through automation and tooling improvements.
  • Monitor and report vital incident management metrics, including mean time to detect (MTTD) and mean time to resolve (MTTR).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to boost overall system reliability, observability maturity, and security posture.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Between 1 and 3 years of experience in IT operations, system administration, application support, DevOps, or site reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, etc.), including basic querying and dashboard operation.
  • Proficiency in Linux systems alongside scripting capabilities using Bash, Python, or Go.
  • Understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting methodologies.
  • Experience working with IT Service Management tools like ServiceNow, Jira, or Zendesk, alongside ITIL frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Basic experience with cloud native technologies and container platforms, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent critical thinking, troubleshooting aptitude, and communication skills.
