About EROAD
EROAD is a prominent global fleet management technology firm, recognized as a major New Zealand tech success. It is publicly listed on the NZX and ASX stock exchanges and is expanding its presence in New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines, and the United States. The company is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to support and advance the SaaS platforms relied upon daily by fleet operators.
Role Overview
In this senior, hands-on position, you will have significant influence on platform operation and enhancement. Responsibilities include designing solutions for extensive customer-focused distributed systems, participating in on-call production environment support, conducting root cause analyses with durable corrective measures, automating processes to reduce manual labor and boost reliability, enhancing monitoring tools, identifying cost-saving opportunities, mentoring teammates, and contributing within a self-managed agile platform team focused on a SaaS ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design solutions for large-scale, distributed customer-facing systems
- Operate and maintain production environments as part of an on-call schedule
- Perform root-cause analyses and implement lasting fixes
- Create automation to minimize manual tasks and enhance system reliability
- Improve platform monitoring and observability mechanisms
- Find and execute cost optimization strategies for infrastructure
- Mentor colleagues and strengthen the team's SRE competencies
- Collaborate effectively within an autonomous agile platform team under Domain Chapter Lead guidance
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Extensive practical experience managing Kubernetes (AKS or EKS) in production environments at scale
- Proficient hands-on usage of a public cloud platform, either Microsoft Azure or AWS
- Strong alignment to one cloud ecosystem: Azure/Windows or AWS/Linux is acceptable
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Concourse, or equivalents
- Competency in scripting languages like Ruby, Bash, or Python
- Proven experience operating complex, multi-tier, customer-facing distributed production systems
- Working knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and visualization tools such as Grafana, Sumo Logic, or Datadog
