- Monitor and optimize cloud and on-premise resource costs, recommending architectural improvements that balance cost-efficiency with performance and reliability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with developers, data engineers, and leadership to plan for infrastructure needs and improve SRE practices through tooling, guidance, and training.
- Ensure software is production-ready, proactively identifying and driving improvements.
- Lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts, assisting developers with debugging across applications, networks, databases, and systems.
Required Competencies and Experience
- Strong software engineering skills focused on developing and maintaining complex systems with an emphasis on code robustness and maintainability.
- Solid foundations in computer science fundamentals such as data structures, concurrency, system architecture, API design, testing, and design patterns.
- System engineering expertise including performance profiling, contention analysis, and network diagnostics.
- Hands-on expertise with SRE methodologies and modern tooling including containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), infrastructure as code (Terraform), and GitOps workflows (ArgoCD).
- Thorough knowledge of at least one major cloud provider platform (preferably GCP) and Linux OS, with capabilities in server tuning, database/storage management, and Kubernetes cluster operations.
- Proactive ownership mindset and demonstrated leadership experience mentoring engineers or leading projects, with a proven ability to deliver complex solutions.
- Excellent communication skills allowing for effective collaboration across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Adaptable and eager to learn new skills in a dynamic startup environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in high-growth startup settings, comfortable with change and ambiguity.
- Familiarity with maintaining security compliance and certifications.
- Experience with tools used by Partly such as GCP, ArgoCD, GitLab CI, Kafka.
- Knowledge or experience running production workloads on Apache Cassandra and/or Postgres databases.
- Rust programming expertise with ability to mentor others.
