Role Overview

The Senior Scientist specializing in Speech and Language plays a pivotal role in pushing forward innovations in speech and language technology. This position serves as a critical link between foundational research and practical product development, working on areas such as automatic speech recognition, natural language understanding, speech synthesis, and interactive conversational AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead advanced research initiatives in speech and audio technologies, including speech recognition, synthesis, audio signal enhancement, speaker identification, and spatial audio techniques.
• Design, develop, and evaluate innovative speech and audio processing algorithms employing machine learning, signal processing, and computer vision methods.
• Partner with cross-disciplinary teams—including engineers, product managers, and designers—to translate research breakthroughs into deployable real-world applications.
• Enhance model accuracy and algorithmic performance, addressing challenges encountered during implementation through efficient collaboration across various stakeholders.
• Identify and propose AI-driven solutions to boost operational effectiveness for target clients across industries.
• Invent, analyze, refine, and optimize algorithms in key audio domains such as speech recognition, text-to-speech, and speaker recognition technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable discipline focusing on speech and audio processing, or substantial equivalent practical experience.
• Strong publication record in speech/audio processing research featured in respected peer-reviewed journals or conferences such as CVPR, ECCV, NIPS, ICASSP, and InterSpeech.
• Proficiency with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow and programming expertise in Python, C++, or comparable languages.
• Deep expertise in signal processing methods and advanced neural network models geared toward speech and audio challenges.
• Experience handling large-scale data and distributed computing environments effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in real-time audio system development or applications in augmented/virtual reality, accessibility solutions, or social interaction platforms.
• Experience with multilingual or low-resource speech recognition technologies.
• Knowledge of self-supervised or unsupervised learning approaches for speech and audio data representation.
• Understanding of privacy-first methodologies pertinent to audio data processing.
• Track record of mentoring emerging researchers or overseeing collaborative research projects.
