Senior Safety Consultant

Role Overview

EHS International is seeking an experienced Senior Safety Consultant to join our esteemed team with a robust presence in the Irish EHS market. This position offers a unique opportunity to work across diverse industries and client projects, providing expert technical guidance on challenging safety issues while managing your own consultancy caseload. The role is based either in Cork or Dublin, with the flexibility to service a variety of client locations and sectors rather than being confined to one site.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver expert technical advice on complex health and safety matters internally and to clients.
• Lead a variety of safety consultancy engagements covering multiple industry sectors and project types.
• Provide mentorship and support to junior EHS consultants.
• Review and oversee high-risk and high-complexity safety assessments and reports.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior client stakeholders.
• Keep up to date with regulatory changes and communicate practical guidance to clients.

Essential Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
• Strong skills in risk assessment, safety auditing, accident investigation, and problem solving.
• Proven track record of offering practical and business-focused safety advice to clients.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, capable of influencing decision-makers at all organizational levels.
• Talent for fostering trusted, long-term client relationships and understanding their operational needs.

Experience and Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in a safety consultancy or a senior in-house health and safety role.
• Broad experience across multiple sectors and projects, avoiding single-industry specialization.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Safety, Health & Environment or an equivalent diploma or degree.
• Chartered status (CMIOSH) preferred or strong progression towards achieving it.
• Demonstrated capability to provide counsel on complex cases and mentor other consultants.
• Strong client-facing communication skills, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders.
• Valid clean driving license and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
• Authorized to work in the Republic of Ireland.
