Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Rigger to work closely with the Rigging Supervisor and Producer to design and develop adaptable rigging systems and animation interfaces for CG characters, props, and vehicles, supporting feature animation projects. This role requires presence in British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities
- Create rigs for CG assets including characters, props, and sets to meet the desired animation needs.
- Apply skinning and deformation strategies effectively to optimize rig performance.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance rigs during production, ensuring stability for the animation team.
- Collaborate with production, design, modeling, and shading teams to fulfill animation requirements.
- Analyze scripts and animatics to determine rigging necessities.
- Manage and oversee rigging task assignments responsibly.
- Communicate proactively with Rigging Supervisors about any challenges or concerns.
- Perform duties with professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of in-house rigging tools and workflows through creating new tools, debugging, and brainstorming innovations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 5 years of rigging experience, including at least 2 years in feature animation.
- Strong passion and knowledge in rigging and deformation techniques, especially corrective shape-driven workflows for facial and body rigs.
- Proficient with rigging in Maya and Python scripting.
- Solid grasp of 3D mathematical concepts applicable to rigging.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and manage time under pressure.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects under deadlines.
Additional Desirable Skills
- Experience with Object-Oriented Programming concepts in Python.
- Familiarity with PySide for Maya.
- Knowledge of Maya API using Python.
- Understanding of C++ programming is an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
Weekly pay ranges from CAD 1,875 to CAD 2,400 based on a standard 40-hour workweek. Actual salary depends on role level, responsibilities, experience, and skills, aligned with internal equity.
