Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced RF IC Design Engineer to join a confidential company focused on pioneering CMOS technologies. This position offers the chance to engage in the whole product lifecycle, from defining system requirements and designing circuits to validating silicon implementations. Interaction with customers, suppliers, and engineering teams is a key component.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert system specifications into detailed RF design requirements and carry out system-level analyses on parameters such as gain, noise, linearity, and power consumption.
  • Design and fine-tune various RF and analog circuit blocks including Transimpedance Amplifiers (TIA), drivers, Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCO), Phase Locked Loops (PLL), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA), Power Amplifiers (PA), and mixers.
  • Create high-performance RF circuit solutions emphasizing noise mitigation, linear performance, impedance matching, and power efficiency.
  • Perform electromagnetic simulations to evaluate parasitic effects involving inductors, transformers, and transmission lines.
  • Oversee RF IC layout processes encompassing floorplanning, routing, Design Rule Check (DRC), Layout Versus Schematic (LVS), and parasitic extraction.
  • Collaborate closely with layout engineers for post-layout simulation and optimization efforts.
  • Participate actively in design reviews, developing methodologies, and continuously improving design workflows.
  • Engage in silicon bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting using tools like Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, and RF probe stations.
  • Explore new circuit architectures, fabrication processes, and design methodologies.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and status reports throughout the design and validation phases.

Candidate Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering focusing on RF, microwave circuits, or electromagnetics.
  • Minimum of five years experience in RF IC design.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of RF principles including Smith charts, transmission lines, wave propagation, and substrate coupling effects.
  • Proven experience with advanced CMOS technologies, particularly FD SOI or FinFET processes.
  • Hands-on expertise in RF circuit design, custom layout, electromagnetic simulation, and post-layout analysis.
  • Familiarity with silicon validation techniques and operation of high-frequency measurement instruments.

Additional Information

The position allows for significant technical ownership on complex RF IC development projects. Candidates interested in learning more can connect with Parm Shergill for further details.
