Job description
Company Overview
Applied Angstrom Technology Pte. Ltd. (AAT) is a pioneering semiconductor equipment startup headquartered in Singapore. Its mission is to become a world-leading provider of process technology in the Angstrom era, particularly for 3D device manufacturing. The company aims to foster a comprehensive ecosystem involving equipment design, manufacturing, and component/material supply chains located in both the US and Singapore.
Role Overview
As a Senior RF Engineer at AAT, you will play a pivotal role at the crossroads of high-frequency power electronics and plasma physics. You will act as the expert responsible for the architecture of AAT’s RF delivery systems, leading innovation in clean-sheet design, dynamic impedance matching, and plasma source characterization to achieve sub-angstrom precision in state-of-the-art Atomic Layer Etching chambers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support development, qualification, and implementation of RF and plasma tools within Plasma Etch chambers for both research & development and manufacturing environments.
- Conduct experimental investigations and characterizations of RF and plasma systems/components at both bench and equipment levels using instruments like Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Plasma Probes, and data acquisition controllers.
- Create novel strategies for distributing RF power via antennas and networks to maintain stable plasma ignition across various frequencies and generator types.
- Develop innovative diagnostic and arc detection techniques for RF and plasma applications suitable for R&D and production contexts.
- Collaborate closely with Process Engineers and Field/Customer Support teams to deliver RF and plasma troubleshooting and problem-solving services efficiently.
Candidate Profile
- Master's or PhD in science or engineering fields focused on high-frequency electronics or plasma physics.
- Proficient with a broad range of plasma types, spanning DC to microwave frequencies, under different pressures and gas environments.
- Familiarity with the unique challenges involved in large-area plasma manufacturing and the corresponding industrial techniques.
- Experience with plasma diagnostic tools such as Langmuir probes, optical diagnostics, and microwave diagnostics.
- Background knowledge of etching or chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technologies, associated applications, and film metrology.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical design concerning manufacturability, mechatronics, material properties, vacuum systems, and gas flow management.
- Expertise in system-level design and integration, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, edge computing, and safety systems.
- Strong fundamentals in RF power delivery systems, impedance matching, RF sensors, transmission line theory, electronic circuitry, amplifiers, and sensor technologies.
