Job description

About Us

Autotrader is the UK’s most trusted and visited automotive marketplace, connecting vehicle buyers and sellers across a wide range of vehicles from cars to e-bikes and caravans. Renowned as both a heritage brand and tech innovator, we navigate the constantly evolving automotive landscape with a clear focus on people, diversity, and teamwork. We aim to make the car-buying process simpler and more accessible, fostering a work environment that’s vibrant, supportive, and inclusive.

Role Overview

We seek a Senior Reward Advisor to enhance and maintain the quality of our reward, benefits, and wellbeing schemes at Autotrader. Collaborating closely with the Reward Manager and the broader People team, you will offer expert guidance, thorough analysis, and operational assistance ensuring our reward initiatives are equitable, competitive, and aligned with the company's strategic goals.

This role suits a seasoned reward professional who thrives on combining technical proficiency with effective stakeholder communication and pragmatic solutions. You will support core reward functions such as salary reviews, share plans, benchmarking, job evaluation, and reporting, providing trusted advice to managers and colleagues regarding remuneration and reward policies. Your insights and practical advice will help ensure consistent and fair reward decisions aligned with company principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in executing cyclical reward activities including salary reviews, market benchmarking, share scheme administration, and job evaluation using methodologies such as Willis Towers Watson, Hay, or Mercer.
  • Manage employee benefit programs end-to-end, including engaging with suppliers, monitoring performance, analyzing employee engagement, and contributing to the development of benefits offerings and platforms.
  • Leverage strong analytical skills to produce comprehensive reward analysis, management reports, and presentations that distill complex data into actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, practical, and influential communication on pay, promotions, grading, and benefits tailored to managers, colleagues, and senior leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and streamline reward processes that improve manager and employee experience while ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Contribute to governance by maintaining policies, preparing reports, and supporting senior leadership needs.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience across the full reward spectrum, ideally as a Senior Reward Advisor or a strong Reward Advisor poised for advanced responsibilities.
  • Hands-on background with salary review processes, market benchmarking, share plans, and job evaluation/grading frameworks.
  • Experience managing benefits programs including supplier relationships, engagement measurements, and program development.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities supported by experience in preparing stakeholder-ready reports and presentations translating complex reward data.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills capable of explaining complex reward concepts clearly and building credibility among various internal stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver quality outcomes within tight deadlines.
  • A detail-focused, proactive problem solver committed to continuous improvement in processes and approaches.

Additional Application Information

Applicants will be asked two behavioural questions during the selection process to assess alignment with our core values; these will form part of the criteria used for progression decisions.

Benefits and Rewards

  • Competitive salary ranging between £45,000 and £55,000 accompanied by an annual award of shares valued at 10% of your salary, vested yearly over three years with flexibility to sell or retain shares.
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, including half-day office closures on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
  • Generous pension scheme contributions (employer 7%, employee 5%).
  • Comprehensive private medical insurance.
  • Enhanced family leave policies.
  • Car salary sacrifice scheme and share-save options.
  • Access to Bupa digital GP services and specialized wellbeing support including fertility, gender dysphoria, menopause, and period care plans.
  • Flexible working with a hybrid model requiring a minimum of three days per week on site, promoting both office collaboration and remote work.
  • Remote-first working periods during summer and winter allowing work from anywhere in the UK or selected international locations.
  • A structured new starter induction programme named Great Start to help you integrate and succeed from day one.
