Senior Quantity Surveyor

Position Overview

ConsultANZ is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a prominent civil contractor located in Wellington, New Zealand. This permanent role is ideal for an experienced professional skilled in project controls, cost forecasting, and commercial reporting on significant infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will report directly to the Commercial Manager and will be responsible for overseeing the Candy cost management system, managing financial forecasting, and providing commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle project cost forecasting and commercial reporting activities.
• Maintain and manage the Candy cost system effectively.
• Track budgets, expenses, and overall financial outcomes.
• Evaluate and administer project variations and ensure cost control.
• Generate precise cost forecasts and commercial documentation.
• Assist with commercial planning and aid project-related decisions.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers and the broader commercial team.
• Lead and supervise a team of three, including task allocation, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing support for effective cost and commercial management.
• Organize team efforts to meet project deadlines and deliver accurate outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on civil or infrastructure projects.
• Proficient in using Candy software for cost management, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
• Experience in project controls, commercial reporting, forecasting costs, and managing variations.
• Experienced in managing teams, with the ability to lead, mentor, and oversee at least three team members.
• Adept at coordinating workloads, monitoring team performance, and ensuring timely, accurate delivery of commercial outputs.
• Knowledge of NZS 3910, JDE, and TOC contracts is highly advantageous.
• Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
