About the Role
A Senior Quantity Surveyor position is available in Plymouth with our client looking for a professional to oversee all contractual and financial matters for construction projects. The role ensures projects remain within budget while meeting specifications through effective cost management, contract negotiation, and budget oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed cost estimates and project budgets for construction initiatives.
- Implement cost planning and control measures throughout project duration.
- Review, negotiate, and manage contracts, subcontracts, and change variations.
- Oversee procurement activities including evaluating bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Track project progress, forecast final costs, and identify financial risks.
- Prepare interim and final payment applications and valuations to support financial management.
- Coordinate regularly with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure project alignment.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable legal regulations and company standards.
- Generate financial reports, cost analyses, and documentation for stakeholders.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior quantity surveyors and team members.
- Contribute to resolving disputes related to costs and contractual issues.
Candidate Requirements
- Professional qualification with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience post-qualification; 5 years experience is acceptable.
- Academic credentials in Quantity Surveying such as HNC, BSc, or MSc.
- CSCS White PQP/AQP certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Preferred professional accreditation like RICS or CIOB.
- Proven extensive experience of 5 or more years in quantity surveying for construction or infrastructure projects.
- Solid understanding of construction contracts, procurement strategies, and cost control methodologies.
- Skilled in quantity surveying software including CostX, QS Suite, and PlanSwift.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
