Role Overview

This position focuses on developing a robust machine learning (ML) modeling pipeline in Python designed to optimize model performance on key customer metrics such as yield and tolerance. The role equally involves enhancing core ML algorithms for better accuracy and computational speed, alongside crafting deployment-ready software compatible with our proprietary system architecture.

Unlike typical big data roles focused on Hadoop or Spark, this role centers on ML, but may also entail general software engineering tasks essential for product and platform readiness. Our deployment environment resembles that of an autonomous system rather than a typical cloud-based service with continuous update access.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, production-ready machine learning algorithms and analytical tools.
• Enhance computational efficiency and performance of ML models and analytics solutions.
• Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to design clean, effective API interfaces.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• More than 8 years of experience in backend development using Python.
• At least 4 years of hands-on engineering with algorithm implementation and machine learning frameworks or libraries.
• Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, Cassandra, or Redis.
• Proficient in making API calls and integrating various services.
• Practical knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Strong skills in bottleneck analysis and optimizing code performance.
• Good grasp of CPU and memory management issues in parallel computing environments.

Compensation

The annual remuneration ranges from CAD 120,000 to CAD 155,000.
