About the Role

They seek a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer with extensive Python expertise to contribute to a highly interactive product team. The candidate will be responsible for critical backend services and cloud infrastructure management.

This position is hands-on, ideal for those passionate about building reliable systems, enhancing performance, and engaging with cross-functional engineers within the product organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement scalable backend solutions utilizing Python and AWS technologies.
• Develop serverless applications and APIs efficiently using AWS Lambda, S3, and associated cloud services.
• Manage API creation and maintenance through frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Design and optimize databases with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB, incorporating caching for enhanced performance.
• Enhance application reliability, scalability, and speed.
• Establish automated testing protocols including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Engage in CI/CD pipeline development, supporting continuous integration and delivery.
• Ensure codebases remain clean, well-documented, and maintainable.
• Collaborate on architectural designs and backend service integration within the broader technology ecosystem.
• Work closely with frontend developers, QA, product managers, UX/UI experts, and AI specialists in an agile environment, offering input to improve workflows and processes.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python with practical commercial experience.
• Experience in TypeScript and/or JavaScript development.
• Proven track record building robust APIs and backend services.
• Knowledgeable in backend frameworks like FastAPI, Django, and Flask.
• Expertise in relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB is advantageous.
• Well-versed in AWS cloud architecture, with emphasis on serverless tech.
• Hands-on experience in implementing automated testing and modern software engineering best practices.
• Experience using CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions.
• Practical knowledge of contemporary Python dependency managers including Poetry, uv, or pip.
• Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and scalability considerations.
• Background working within agile development teams.
