Role Overview

The Senior Project Engineer will oversee HVAC and mechanical replacement and retrofit projects, starting from initial site surveys and Request for Quotation (RFQ) preparation through to procurement, execution, testing, commissioning, and final handover. The role ensures projects adhere to technical specifications, schedules, budget constraints, quality benchmarks, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed site evaluations for HVAC and mechanical replacements, confirming existing site conditions, defining the technical scope and requirements.
• Develop detailed RFQs encompassing scope of work, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical criteria, drawings, and related site information.
• Engage and coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain, assess, and select quotations that are technically compliant and commercially viable.
• Lead assigned projects through the entire project lifecycle including site assessment, procurement, execution, testing and commissioning, snag resolution, and final handover.
• Review and approve technical submittals, quotations, equipment/material selections, methodology statements, and subcontractor proposals to guarantee adherence to project demands.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to address technical difficulties and onsite issues.
• Oversee project timelines, costs, quality standards, safety protocols, material deliveries, and site progress; proactively identify and mitigate potential delays, risks, and impacts on commercial aspects.
• Prepare comprehensive project documentation including progress reports, variation requests, and supporting technical records.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards, contractual obligations, company policies, and health and safety regulations.
• Manage project closeout activities, including commissioning, snag clearance, and preparation of final handover documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• At least 10 years of experience in mechanical and HVAC projects, especially with equipment replacement, retrofits, and projects involving existing facilities.
• Extensive expertise in conducting site surveys, preparing RFQs, BOQs, scope development, technical assessments, and project management.
• In-depth understanding of HVAC systems such as chillers, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), packaged units, pumps, piping, ductwork, controls, and related mechanical components.
• Proven track record working effectively with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Ability to independently drive multiple projects to completion including testing, commissioning, snag resolution, and final handover.
• Strong skills in project planning, problem-solving, communication, and organization.
• Competence in preparing clear technical documentation, reports, and progress updates.
