Role Overview

The Senior Product Owner for Application Security plays a unique role overseeing not only feature delivery but also the effectiveness and operational usability of four core products: Web Application Firewall (WAF), Bot Management, Captcha, and API Protection. This role requires close alignment with real-world security practitioners to ensure outstanding outcomes and smooth user experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and manage the product vision and roadmap for WAF, Bot Management, Captcha, and API Protection, which share a common threat model and target enterprise customers.
• Maintain a balanced focus on security efficacy and ease of use, ensuring products both protect clients and remain straightforward to configure and operate.
• Own the complete customer journey including onboarding, configuration workflows, dashboards, alerting systems, and daily operational interfaces for security teams.
• Continuously monitor emerging threat vectors, evasion tactics, updates from OWASP, and relevant CVE trends, translating these into concrete product strategies.
• Analyze competitive landscapes to evaluate Myra's standing, identify areas for improvement, and anticipate market shifts.
• Engage directly with security practitioners such as engineers and architects to understand their technical needs without intermediaries.
• Create detailed Outcome Briefs for engineering teams outlining customer problems, measurable goals, and prioritization rationales, while engineering determines implementation approaches.

Candidate Profile

• Possess deep expertise in at least one of the key product areas: WAF, Bot Management, API Protection, or Captcha, with working knowledge across all.
• Strong foundation in application security principles including OWASP Top 10, HTTP request lifecycle, and application-layer defenses.
• Experience managing B2B SaaS products through complete lifecycles, with emphasis on outcome-oriented planning and success measurement.
• Track record of enhancing usability in security tools, balancing protection with reduced operational friction for security teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively with enterprise security buyers, including CISOs and engineers, and familiarity with compliance standards such as PCI DSS, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.
• Adversarial mindset to assess product decisions from the perspective of potential attackers and adapt roadmaps accordingly.
