Job description
About Push Operations
Push is an integrated platform designed to help businesses grow by streamlining human resources, payroll, time tracking, and scheduling processes. Our mission is to give customers more time to focus on what they love by simplifying people management. Notable clients include Earls Restaurant, Cactus Club, and Crumbl Cookies.
Team and Work Culture
We are a passionate, highly efficient team that values competence and enthusiastic participation. As a rapidly expanding team member, you will play an essential role in driving our goal to empower one million people to pursue their passions.
Role Overview
In this position, you will own the product vision for payroll and integration systems—critical components of our business. Instead of following preset roadmaps, you will lead strategic direction, collaborating closely with engineers, designers, and payroll experts. You will become the go-to resource for payroll and integration matters within the company.
Unique Challenges
Payroll demands absolute accuracy from the outset as our customers process payments for tens of thousands of employees on strict tax deadlines. Protecting this accuracy while innovating is a core challenge. Additionally, you will manage payroll initiatives across both Canada and the US, navigating complex federal, state/provincial, and local tax requirements, including year-end processes.
You will also oversee our integrations portfolio, consisting of over 50 connections including POS systems, HR, accounting, and benefits platforms. This responsibility involves deciding which integrations to build, maintain, revamp, or discontinue and guiding the API and platform strategy.
Location
We embrace a remote-first culture with options to work from anywhere in Canada or at our downtown Vancouver office. We ensure all team members feel supported and well-equipped regardless of their work location.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for payroll and integrations, securing company-wide alignment.
- Lead payroll initiatives across Canada and the US, from initial discovery to launch and user adoption.
- Manage the integrations portfolio end-to-end, making strategic decisions about build, maintenance, refactoring, and sunsetting.
- Engage regularly with customers to understand daily payroll operations, identify time-saving opportunities, and gather feature requests.
- Develop and monitor key metrics related to payroll accuracy and integration health to guide decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with design, engineering, quality assurance, support, sales, and customer success teams.
- Create and execute go-to-market plans ensuring successful customer launches beyond product releases.
Success Milestones in First Six Months
- Month 1-2: Gain comprehensive product knowledge of payroll systems and conduct interviews with customers and internal teams.
- Month 3-4: Deliver a clear, shared product roadmap covering payroll and integrations, including a strategic approach to Canadian and US markets.
- Month 5-6: Launch significant product features that demonstrate measurable impact and establish a documented integration strategy guiding engineering and go-to-market activities.
Why Join Push?
- Encouragement to focus on your passions to foster happiness and fulfillment at work.
- Commitment to your professional and personal growth through supportive conversations and goal-setting.
- Opportunity to make a meaningful impact, embracing diversity and authenticity to leave a lasting legacy.
Additional Information
We welcome diverse backgrounds and experiences that may not fit traditional criteria but align with the role. Inclusion and equal opportunity are core to our values, and accommodations for disabilities are available throughout the recruitment process.
Please note the use of AI-assisted screening with ongoing human oversight to ensure fairness.
Compensation
Annual salary range is CAD 120,000 to CAD 145,000.
Qualifications
- At least six years of product management experience, with significant responsibility in owning complete product areas rather than merely following established roadmaps.
- Direct hands-on experience with payroll systems in Canada or the US, including expertise in compliance with remittance deadlines, year-end processes, and tax regulations; experience in both countries is advantageous.
- Background in complex B2B SaaS products, particularly those involving implementation, data migration, or integration with external systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis and decision-making supported by data extraction and interpretation.
- Strong understanding of APIs and integrations from a product perspective, capable of engaging technical discussions and trade-off decisions despite not coding personally.
- Exceptional written communication skills to influence and align stakeholders.
- Proven success shipping products with sustained customer adoption.
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing payroll across both Canadian and US markets.
- Familiarity with other regulated domains such as benefits administration, taxation, fintech, or healthcare.
- Exposure to platform or partner ecosystem products involving APIs.
- Knowledge of POS or HRIS integrations.
- Experience serving hospitality, restaurant, or multi-unit franchise clients.
