Job description
Role Overview
As a Senior Product Manager specializing in Banking Experience, you will oversee the reconciliation review process built atop Xero's Auto Bank Rec (ABR) feature. ABR employs AI to automatically reconcile banking transactions for small businesses and accountants. Your responsibility is to enhance the review phase that customers rely on to trust the automation and achieve accurate reconciliation more swiftly. Your goal is to optimize the core metric of time-to-value by evolving the current manual checking process into a management-by-exception system where automation handles the routine cases, and intervention is required only when human judgment is necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine a prioritized roadmap for Auto Bank Rec and its review interface by understanding the current system.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to further the management-by-exception automation, reducing manual tasks.
- Define and implement success metrics, evaluation frameworks, and dashboards to monitor quality, effort in reviews, and time-to-value amidst automation growth.
- Create consensus-driven, clear product requirements in partnership with design and engineering teams to extend reconciliation features into AI-powered, user-friendly platforms.
Team and Collaboration
You will be part of a dedicated product management team in New Zealand focused on diverse areas of banking experience, working closely with engineering pods, UX designers, and stakeholders across global time zones. This environment promotes open communication and data-driven innovation to develop impactful banking software.
Candidate Profile
- Proven background in B2B SaaS product management, particularly involving complex automation or AI/ML-enhanced workflows and trustworthy review procedures.
- Track record of evolving ambiguous product concepts into fully fleshed-out, data-backed strategies.
- Ability to work effectively alongside technical teams such as engineers and machine learning experts to influence decisions on technical trade-offs, performance evaluation of models, and balance automation with reliability.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data analytics, logs, and customer insights to guide product decisions.
- Excellent written and asynchronous communication abilities to engage and align with cross-continental stakeholders.
- Collaborative approach to working with fellow product managers, user experience designers, and cross-disciplinary teams.
Work Environment
This position is located in New Zealand as part of a globally distributed banking group. It offers flexible hybrid arrangements combining team-oriented in-person days with remote work for focused productivity.
