Role Overview

We are developing an advanced Agentic AI Platform designed to empower multiple product teams to consistently and securely deploy AI-driven features at scale. This position involves owning and advancing the platform itself — including its key services, frameworks, tooling, and developer experience — rather than building product features. As a technical consultant and partner, you will facilitate smooth onboarding and adoption among various teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and continuously improve core platform services, APIs, and frameworks integral to Acuity's Commerce AI capabilities.
• Set and guide the platform's technical roadmap prioritizing scalability, reliability, extensibility, and maintainability alongside immediate delivery.
• Create and maintain standardized architectural patterns, reference implementations, and proven workflows to simplify platform usage.
• Manage the full AI lifecycle, from proof of concept through to production deployment, including tasks like prompt engineering, context handling, tool-calling optimization, and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Ensure the platform operates securely, efficiently, and is observable once deployed.
• Enhance developer experience by building tools, templates, and libraries that streamline onboarding and reduce complexity.
• Serve as a technical advisor to teams adopting the platform and advocate platform benefits and best practices across engineering and product units.
• Collaborate with related teams (product, architecture, security, data) to ensure platform alignment with company-wide standards.
• Drive improvements by gathering feedback and implementing necessary adjustments.
• Incorporate support for Generative and Agentic AI with reusable safe integration patterns.
• Promote and support AI software development lifecycle (SDLC) methods, including specification-first and automation-driven development approaches.
• Lead engineering excellence by writing production-grade Python code (using FastAPI, Flask, object-oriented programming, typing, asynchronous processing, Pydantic), deploying containerized cloud-native applications, and implementing CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Argo CD).
• Apply event-driven architecture and data modeling for scalable integration solutions.
• Review code, mentor peers, and raise engineering standards across teams.
• Maintain security best practices including authentication/authorization, secrets management, and container security scanning.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in software engineering at a senior level.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including OOP, typing, asynchronous programming, and Pydantic.
• Proven expertise in building RESTful APIs using frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask.
• Hands-on experience with continuous integration and deployment, DevOps methodologies, and GitHub branching strategies.
• Experience with cloud environments, preferably Azure; AWS or Google Cloud are also acceptable.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, SQL and NoSQL databases, and microservices architecture.
• Strong testing practices utilizing tools like PyTest and automated testing strategies.
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Solid understanding of Agile software development frameworks.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Background in platform engineering and developer enablement, including creating and maintaining shared tooling and internal platforms.
• Experience as a technical evangelist or enablement lead in a multi-team organization.
• Knowledge of Spec Driven Development approaches and exposure to related tools such as OpenSpec, OpenCode, SpecKit, or agent-assisted development utilities like Claude Code.
• Familiarity with AI lifecycle formalization including design, build, test, deploy, and monitoring stages.
• Experience with Generative AI, Agentic AI, and large language model frameworks like LangChain, Hugging Face, and OpenAI APIs.
• Understanding of deep learning principles including transformers, attention mechanisms, and neural networks.
• Experience with Azure services such as Cosmos DB, serverless computing, and networking.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure cloud code deployment.
• Exposure to Internet of Things (IoT) platforms or large-scale enterprise integrations.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between €68,500 and €123,300, depending on experience and geographic considerations. Acuity offers competitive benefits including comprehensive healthcare, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) plans, and role-dependent commission or incentive pay.
