Role Overview

In the position of Senior PHP Backend Developer within the Growth & Expansion team, based full-time in Riyadh, you will develop reliable server-side features, tackle complex architectural challenges, and create scalable cloud-based services. You will work closely with a global engineering team to ensure the delivery of resilient and efficient software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance secure enterprise web applications and cloud services.
• Build and optimize backend components using modern PHP tools (PHP 8.2+, Composer, PHPUnit), MongoDB, NodeJS, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
• Integrate various databases, file storage systems, caching layers such as Memcached and Redis, and search platforms like Solr.
• Address complex architectural problems, troubleshoot client issues, and provide timely software updates.
• Utilize AI-based coding assistants—such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code—to accelerate coding, reviewing, and documentation processes.

Required Qualifications

• Location Requirement: Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; this is a fully onsite position.
• Experience: A minimum of 4 years in professional software development with at least 3 years in PHP backend and web application development.
• Technical Mastery: Extensive knowledge of modern PHP environments (PHP 8.2+, Composer, PHPUnit) and strong command of object-oriented programming/design patterns.
• Core Skills: Practical experience with client-server architecture, RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, test automation, and Git version control.
• AI Tools: Proficiency in integrating AI coding tools into daily development tasks.
• Communication: Excellent English skills and ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
• Additional Assets: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, familiarity with PHP frameworks, NoSQL databases (especially MongoDB), container technologies like Docker, CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins), and Node.js/TypeScript experience is advantageous.
