About 9fin
9fin is an AI-driven platform revolutionizing the global debt markets, which exceed $145 trillion in asset value. The platform consolidates proprietary credit data, extensive analysis, and critical workflows in one place, replacing outdated fragmented methods involving PDFs and manual processes. Used by over 300 leading institutions worldwide, including banks, asset managers, private equity firms, law firms, and advisors, 9fin is expanding rapidly especially in the US, boasting excellent retention due to deep workflow integration.
Role Overview
As a Senior People Partner for Content, you will be embedded within the Content division (encompassing Editorial, Legal, Credit, Distressed teams), partnering closely with the Chief Content Officer (CCO) and senior leadership. Your mandate is to act as a trusted advisor focusing on both strategic and tactical elements: driving organizational design, talent management, leadership development, and employee relations while being integrally involved in team rituals and leadership forums to preemptively identify and solve people-related challenges.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as the primary HR confidant and strategic partner to Content leaders, offering guidance, constructive challenge, and thoughtful solutions aligned with business goals.
- Serve as the right hand to the CCO, understanding their vision thoroughly and representing their interests in leadership engagements.
- Embed yourself fully into the Content team by attending key meetings, rituals, and communication channels to gain in-depth insight into team dynamics and operational realities.
- Conduct organizational design efforts by identifying gaps, risks, and scaling opportunities across regions and functions.
- Lead talent management initiatives by identifying key performers, facilitating succession planning, and partnering with Talent teams on role pipeline strategies.
- Drive learning and development programs aimed at enhancing editorial expertise, analytical skills, management capabilities, and leadership potential within the Content team.
- Ensure equitable and data-driven reward processes including salary bands, promotions, and compensation reviews mindful of diversity and inclusion.
- Support performance management by coaching leaders and teams to overcome blockers and cultivate a culture of continuous feedback and development.
- Handle all employee relations matters under UK employment law, including performance improvement plans, grievances, conflict resolution, probation, parental leave, flexible working, and mediation.
- Champion the adoption of people products and systems, providing training and acting as the main point of contact for the Content team.
- Analyze HR and engagement data to deliver actionable insights for management decision-making.
- Provide one-on-one wellbeing support and promote awareness of mental and physical health resources among employees and managers.
- Model company values and contribute to fostering an inclusive workplace culture as the London office grows.
Candidate Profile
- Accountable and courageous in constructively challenging senior leaders to make the right people decisions.
- Confident in influencing and advising executives and senior editorial or analytical professionals with credibility.
- Curious about the Content business, eager to understand operational workflows and quality standards in editorial and analytical output.
- Proactive, with a bias for action, and able to independently identify and escalate people priorities.
- Data-driven with a strong focus on integrity and the ability to anticipate future challenges.
- Thorough knowledge of UK employment law, with some awareness of New York regulations to manage complex employee relations autonomously.
- Comfortable juggling strategic initiatives and tactical HR operations within a fast-paced, evolving scale-up.
- Collaborative team player working closely with other People and Talent partners to deliver an excellent employee experience.
Essential Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years' HR experience, ideally within fast-growing technology, fintech, or startup environments.
- Expertise in UK employment legislation and compliance.
- Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities efficiently.
- Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems; familiarity with HiBob, Lattice, and Ashby is preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of engaging professionally with all stakeholders.
- People-first attitude focused on relationship building and providing thoughtful guidance across organizational levels.
- Adaptability to thrive in dynamic and rapidly changing company contexts.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary and equity participation.
- Pension plan with 3% employer contribution and uncapped employee contributions.
- Private health insurance including dental and vision coverage.
- 25 days of annual leave plus local public holidays with flexible exchange options.
- Hybrid working arrangement based in London with opportunities to work abroad up to three months annually.
- Paid sabbatical of one month upon completing five years of service.
- Enhanced parental leave policies and flexible working hours.
- Annual professional development funding.
- Regular team socials and company-wide events in summer and winter.
Additional Information
9fin is committed to diversity and inclusion, striving to create a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to succeed. Candidates who may not meet every listed criterion but demonstrate potential are encouraged to apply as they might be suited for this or other opportunities within the company.
