Job Overview
You will independently manage the monthly payroll processing for a designated group of employees while ensuring accuracy and quality of payroll-relevant personnel data. Your role involves consulting employees and managers on tax, social insurance, and payroll-related topics, as well as coordinating with authorities, social insurance institutions, and health insurers regarding certificates and reports. Collaborative work with the finance department will include account reconciliations and preparation of monthly and annual financial statements. You will also contribute to ongoing payroll process improvements and enhancements to HR systems.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of monthly payroll calculations for a specific employee group
- Maintain, verify, and reconcile payroll data to guarantee data integrity
- Advise team members and supervisors on tax, social security, and payroll inquiries
- Handle correspondence with official agencies, social security providers, and health insurance companies, including managing certificates and notifications
- Collaborate closely with finance for account reconciliations and aiding in monthly and yearly closing activities
- Participate actively in optimizing payroll workflows and HR software
Qualifications
- Completed commercial apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- Relevant professional experience in payroll processing
- Strong expertise in payroll tax and social insurance law, ideally with knowledge of collective agreements
- Methodical, conscientious, service-oriented work style with strong numerical aptitude
- Proficient use of digital HR and payroll systems
- Excellent command of German and good business-level English skills
