Role Summary

Following rapid growth including acquiring a global legal research platform, we seek an experienced payroll expert to lead EMEA payroll processing and contribute to global payroll strategy. This role requires managing multiple countries' payroll compliance including tax and social security legislation across the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage accurate, timely EMEA payroll processing ensuring adherence to local laws and reporting requirements.
  • Act as senior expert handling complex payroll issues spanning several EMEA jurisdictions.
  • Lead global efforts for payroll governance, standardization, and process improvements across regions.
  • Coordinate with local payroll providers to maintain compliance and efficient delivery.
  • Mentor junior payroll staff supporting their growth and operational questions.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, auditors, tax authorities, pension providers, and payroll vendors to ensure precise reporting and compliance.
  • Foster strong cross-department relationships representing payroll in strategic discussions.
  • Manage payroll queries for assigned countries, resolving complex escalations personally.
  • Oversee vendor contracts and performance management.
  • Maintain process documentation and compliance standards in People operations.
  • Drive initiatives improving payroll and employee self-service tools.
  • Lead or contribute to projects such as payroll technology updates, compliance reviews, and reporting improvements.
  • Analyze workforce trends to advise leadership decisions.
  • Lead sensitive offboarding processes coordinating across teams to ensure compliance and smooth transitions.
  • Maintain employment records and HRIS data accuracy in partnership with Payroll and PSA teams.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years payroll experience encompassing multi-country EMEA operations and compliance.
  • Proven track record as a senior expert on complex cross-border payroll issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of statutory, tax, and social security requirements in major EMEA markets including UK, Ireland, and Spain.
  • Experience with HRIS systems like Workday and working with local payroll vendors.
  • Vendor relationship and contract management expertise.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage senior stakeholders in HR, Finance, and external parties.
  • Ability to work autonomously in dynamic environments while leading and mentoring others.
  • High organizational aptitude with keen attention to data accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience in SaaS or fast-growth technology sectors preferred but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary range €65,400 - €88,400 EUR depending on experience, region, and skills.
