Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Patternmaker to join a prestigious Australian contemporary fashion brand specializing in luxury women's wear. This role offers the chance to combine creativity, technical know-how, and expert garment construction, collaborating closely with the Design team to transform concepts into refined, production-ready apparel.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of pattern and fit development from initial pattern creation through to final production.
- Utilize primarily digital patternmaking techniques alongside hands-on manual cutting and draping methods.
- Collaborate with the Design team to interpret, enhance, and elevate creative designs.
- Create garments that range from technically intricate, structured pieces to fluid, elegant silhouettes.
- Lead garment fittings and address challenges related to fit, construction, and proportion.
- Work in close partnership with machinists to ensure outstanding garment quality and execution.
- Grade finalized patterns across the complete size spectrum.
- Contribute to sustaining and refining the brand's distinct fit and silhouette characteristics.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in senior patternmaking, ideally within premium, luxury, or technically demanding womenswear sectors.
- Excellent proficiency in both manual and digital patternmaking abilities.
- Experience with Lectra software preferred; strong expertise in Gerber software will also be considered.
- Advanced skills in draping, garment fitting, and detailed garment construction.
- Comprehensive knowledge of fabric behavior, fit nuances, and construction techniques.
- Experience working with corsetry, lingerie, bridal, occasionwear, or other complex womenswear categories is highly advantageous.
- A strong creative sensibility with problem-solving skills to interpret and enhance designs rather than merely executing instructions.
Compensation
The salary is competitive and open, determined based on the candidate’s experience and talent, with an emphasis on attracting outstanding professionals.
