About the Role
Join WSP’s Christchurch team as a Senior or Principal Ecologist, leading meaningful ecological projects that span local and global scales. This role encompasses managing all stages from conducting field surveys to detailed data evaluation and preparing comprehensive reports. You will serve as a trusted advisor on environmental and ecological matters, providing expert guidance. Mentorship will form a key part of your duties as you support junior members of the team. Collaborating effectively with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners is essential, as is ensuring all activities adhere to environmental regulations and WSP’s quality standards. Additionally, you will play a vital role in expanding our ecology services by actively driving business development initiatives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification accompanied by at least nine years of professional experience in the ecology domain. Having certification as a Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) – Ecology Specialist, or progressing towards it, is strongly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in technical, analytical, and project management aspects is crucial. Strong interpersonal skills capable of fostering collaboration and building relationships across organizational levels are essential, alongside a passion for pragmatic and client-focused solutions.
