Role Overview

The Senior Nuclear Medicine Technologist position is a full-time, onsite role within the radiology department. Responsibilities include performing and overseeing nuclear medicine procedures such as patient preparation, administering radiopharmaceuticals, acquiring images, and conducting quality control. The technologist ensures compliance with radiation safety standards, calibrates imaging equipment, and accurately documents procedures and dosages.

Daily duties also involve managing workflow efficiency, mentoring junior technologists, collaborating closely with nuclear medicine physicians and other healthcare workers, and upholding departmental policies alongside accreditation requirements. The role demands meticulous attention to detail, prioritization of patient safety, and excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Qualifications and Expertise

• Proven proficiency in nuclear medicine practices including radiopharmaceutical preparation, handling, administration, and imaging protocols.
• Current certification or eligibility with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine or an equivalent credential.
• In-depth understanding of radiation safety principles, dose optimization techniques, and adherence to clinical regulatory standards.
• Basic knowledge of medicine relevant to nuclear imaging indications, contraindications, and patient care.
• Multiple years of progressive experience in nuclear medicine, preferably with supervisory or senior technologist roles.
• Skilled in operating and troubleshooting nuclear medicine imaging devices, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), and associated hospital information systems.
• Capacity to train and mentor junior technologists and contribute to protocol development and quality improvement programs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to clearly explain procedures to patients and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Possession of a diploma or bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiologic Technology, coupled with necessary licensure according to local laws.
