Job description

About Kantoko and Role Overview

Kantoko is revolutionizing ADHD care by making high quality diagnosis and long-term support accessible. As an early engineering team member in this rapidly growing startup led by a founder with a track record of success, you will have a significant impact on the product and engineering culture. Your efforts will directly affect patients and improve their lives daily.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the Patient Mobile App, leading its architecture and technical development.
  • Regularly deliver new patient-centric features, collaborating closely with product, design, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Translate preliminary ideas and patient needs into well-defined features and deploy them effectively.
  • Advance the mobile app’s architecture, testing methods, and deployment pipelines as product demand and complexity grow.
  • Ensure the mobile experience is consistent, performant, and reliable by managing performance, crash analytics, monitoring, and error handling.
  • Maintain a predictable release cycle across iOS and Android platforms using Expo EAS, CI/CD pipelines, and over-the-air updates.
  • Develop and refine core functionalities such as push notifications, deep linking, secure authentication flows, permissions, and accessibility features.
  • Continuously improve the app by simplifying workflows, optimizing performance, and addressing technical debt.
  • Engage in product development decisions about features and priorities, rather than solely executing assigned tasks.

Candidate Profile

  • Passionate about joining an early-stage startup and committed to end-to-end ownership of the mobile product.
  • Skilled at shipping features swiftly and iterating regularly based on user feedback.
  • Deep expertise in React Native and Expo frameworks combined with strong TypeScript skills.
  • Proven track record of launching at least one significant mobile application to production and supporting it post-release.
  • Sound architectural judgment encompassing navigation, state management, and robust error handling.
  • Dedicated to delivering excellent performance and a smooth, user-friendly experience.
  • Pragmatic with strong prioritization and decision-making capabilities.
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment working alongside designers and engineers to create outstanding user experiences.

Technical Environment

  • Mobile Application: React Native with Expo.
  • Backend Services: Python/Django APIs supporting the web platform.

Work Environment and Benefits

  • Hybrid working model requiring three days per week onsite at the Sydney office near Central Station.
  • Attractive ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) offering ownership in the company.
  • Inclusive and supportive team culture that values individual uniqueness and expression.
  • Opportunity to have a meaningful and direct impact on patient well-being.
  • Significant influence over the mobile product’s direction and company growth trajectory.
  • Flexible work-from-home options available.

Additional Requirements

  • Prefer candidates authorized to work in Australia.
  • At least two years of experience with React Native development preferred.
  • Application includes describing a React Native app you have contributed to in production, highlighting your ownership and improvements.
