We are seeking an experienced Senior Management Consultant specializing in commercial technology to join our Wellington office. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced consulting environment with varied projects across industries, delivering strategic and innovative technology procurement solutions.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate clients' existing technology sourcing and service models to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Design advanced sourcing strategies for technologies including software, cloud services, and artificial intelligence.
- Manage full lifecycle sourcing activities such as capability assessment, engaging potential suppliers, technical evaluation, contract negotiations, and implementing cutting-edge sourcing approaches.
- Work closely with stakeholders to translate technical requirements into tailored procurement solutions.
- Assist in creating technology-related business cases by applying frameworks like Treasury’s Better Business Case methodology.
- Spot and pursue new business opportunities leveraging extensive technical expertise.
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members to foster continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Contribute to the creation and promotion of innovative procurement products and services.
- Maintain high service standards by actively seeking and acting on client feedback.
Qualifications and Experience
- Between 4 to 10 years of relevant advisory experience in technology procurement or related fields, supported by a tertiary qualification.
- Strong foundational knowledge of technology solutions such as hyperscale cloud, SaaS platforms, and commercially available software packages.
- Proven track record with various aspects of the technology sourcing process, from strategy formulation to complex contract negotiations, including experience on buyer or vendor sides.
- Proficiency in developing RFx processes, defining requirements, or contract drafting and review, including service schedules.
- Understanding of the role and impact of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) on service quality.
- Familiarity with modern technology licensing and pricing models like hyperscale cloud and SaaS.
- Skill in assessing Total Cost of Ownership to analyze long-term expenditure implications.
- Experience crafting business cases for technology investments.
- Background in business development and advisory services focusing on technology solutions.
- Experience supervising and providing leadership to staff.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and effective communication skills.
- A motivated, pragmatic approach to addressing technical challenges.
- Proven ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and establish strong stakeholder relationships.
