Senior Lighting Designer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Lighting Designer located in Doha, Qatar to lead the architectural and interior lighting design for diverse projects including façades, interiors, landscapes, streetscapes, public areas, and parking zones. This full-time on-site position involves conceptualizing and executing lighting designs from initial ideas through detailed technical documentation and project completion. The designer will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, interior designers, and stakeholders to ensure optimal lighting solutions that meet aesthetic, technical, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Create innovative lighting concepts, prepare layouts, perform lighting calculations, and develop simulations using software tools such as DIALux, DIALux evo, AGI32, and AutoCAD.
• Develop comprehensive visual presentations, renderings, and design boards to effectively communicate design intentions to clients and project teams.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives by preparing GSAS documentation and ensuring energy-efficient lighting designs aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Review and verify lighting specifications, shop drawings, fixture data, and technical documents to confirm accuracy and compliance.
• Select appropriate lighting materials, fixtures, finishes, and control systems based on project goals and performance criteria.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, MEP consultants, contractors, and clients to secure necessary approvals and support project execution phases.
• Manage lighting submittals, conduct site inspections, resolve technical issues, and supervise the work of junior designers to maintain quality and project timelines.
• Ensure all lighting solutions conform to relevant industry standards such as IES, CIBSE, GSAS, and local authority codes.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proven expertise in architectural lighting design for commercial, residential, and public space projects.
• Strong knowledge of lighting controls, fixture selection, and system integration strategies.
• Experience collaborating with interior design teams to complement aesthetics and functionality through lighting.
• Advanced proficiency with lighting design software including DIALux, Relux, AGi32, Revit, and AutoCAD.
• Comprehensive understanding of lighting standards, codes, energy efficiency, and sustainable design practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities to clearly convey technical information to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated leadership skills to manage projects, meet deadlines, and mentor junior staff in a cross-functional environment.
• Experience engaging with lighting product manufacturing or OEM is considered an advantage.
• Fluent English is required; Arabic language skills are a plus.
