Senior Lead Architect

Merrick & Company is looking for a seasoned Lead Architect to join our team in Kanata, Ontario. Key Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design activities within a multidisciplinary environment, providing guidance and mentorship to staff pursuing licensure with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) and other Canadian provincial bodies.
• Ensure successful project delivery, managing profit and loss, accurately forecasting required effort, maintaining quality control of documents, adhering to schedules, and coordinating project assignments alongside technical leads and project management teams.
• Engage in business development initiatives by promoting Merrick's services, leveraging personal networks, participating in industry conferences, and representing the company in professional circles.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum fifteen years of experience in complex architectural design; experience with containment laboratory projects is especially beneficial.
• Licensure with the OAA in Ontario; licensure in additional Canadian provinces is a plus.
• Proven leadership as a lead architect, mentoring intern architects and managing project teams.
• Proficient in BIM software, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam or Adobe toolsets.
• Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status with at least a Reliability clearance level.
• Willingness to travel, including internationally, supported by a valid passport.
• In-depth knowledge of current building codes, heavy commercial/institutional/industrial construction practices, and laboratory design standards.
• Experience spanning all phases of design: planning, programming, schematic design, production of drawings and specifications, plus construction and contract administration.
