Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Java Developer / Tech Lead with 7–9 years of robust experience in Java backend development, especially with microservices and system architecture. This role demands leadership in technical decision-making and active involvement in development within a FinTech/payments environment, based in Chennai.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and implementation of scalable backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Manage backend services end-to-end, including architecture, development, deployment, and support.
- Develop and refine REST APIs for internal use and external partners.
- Contribute to high-level system architecture and design decisions.
- Ensure solutions meet scalability, reliability, performance, security, and maintainability criteria.
- Handle payment workflows such as reconciliation, ledger management, transactions, and idempotency.
- Operate with messaging technologies like Kafka and RabbitMQ, managing message ordering and failure handling.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues in production with comprehensive root cause analysis.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor development teams.
- Collaborate with Product, QA, Business, and client teams to convert requirements into technical implementations.
- Identify technical risks, performance issues, and potential improvements.
- Promote engineering best practices and mentor junior members.
Essential Qualifications
- 7 to 9 years of professional software development experience.
- Advanced hands-on skills in Java and Spring Boot.
- Proven track record designing and deploying microservices and REST APIs in production.
- Previous role as Tech Lead or equivalent technical leadership experience.
- Experience contributing to system and solution architecture.
- Strong SQL skills and experience optimizing databases.
- Production experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ messaging systems.
- Proficiency in debugging and resolving production issues.
- Good grasp of distributed systems concepts including scalability, reliability, and performance.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in Banking, FinTech, BFSI, Payments, or Lending sectors.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Cloud platform experience including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Knowledge of Spring Cloud components like Gateway, Config, Service Discovery, and Resilience4j.
- Hands-on experience with payment gateways, reconciliation engines, ledgers, or transaction processing systems.
Preferred Candidate Attributes
- Technical hands-on leader able to both guide and code effectively.
- Strong background in backend system architecture and scalable microservices design.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage production systems and complex challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Available for immediate joiners ideally within 15 days.
- Currently residing in Chennai or open to relocating.
Important Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 7 years relevant experience mandatory.
- Must have served in Tech Lead or similar technical leadership role.
- Hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices required.
- System/solution architecture contribution experience required.
- Willingness to relocate to Chennai if not currently residing there.
- Availability to join within 15 days is strongly preferred.
