Job description
Position Overview
This role is dedicated to facilitating the secure adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and generative AI technologies by designing and deploying scalable security controls throughout the entire AI lifecycle. The engineer supports the creation of secure AI platform architectures and applications, embedding controls to mitigate risks such as data leakage and vulnerabilities in models. The role also entails developing standards, operational guides, and reference frameworks to empower engineering teams to build secure AI implementations. Expertise spans security engineering, software development, cloud environments, and automation to ensure AI systems are both robust and compliant.
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in security, advising product, platform, and engineering teams on delivering AI solutions that conform to organizational security strategies and risk tolerances.
- Architect and implement secure MLOps and LLMOps frameworks, including onboarding models, managing CI/CD controls, segregating environments, managing secrets, and enforcing least-privilege principles.
- Develop and enforce guardrails for responsible AI use, addressing data privacy, personally identifiable information (PII) management, content filtering, governance, monitoring, and audit capabilities.
- Collaborate with development and product teams to assess security risks, define requirements, and propose actionable remediation strategies.
- Create and update security procedures, tools, patterns, playbooks, and templates for consistent and reliable AI security adoption.
- Work closely with operations and incident response teams to enhance detection, mitigation, and resilience regarding AI-specific security threats within various platforms and applications.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- Practical experience in security engineering covering applications, cloud, platforms, or DevSecOps in complex enterprise environments, with a track record of implementing security controls.
- Proven expertise securing AI/ML or generative AI systems, including threat modeling and deep understanding of vulnerabilities such as prompt injection, data leakage, model inversion/extraction, poisoning attacks, and supply chain risks.
- Possession of pertinent security certifications like CISSP, CCSP, GIAC or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- In-depth knowledge of secure MLOps/LLMOps methodologies involving CI/CD pipelines, model registries, artifact validation, policy-as-code, and environment management.
- Experience with cloud and container security practices, understanding of large language model architectures (e.g., retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, prompt orchestration), and expertise in data security including encryption and key management.
- Capability to analyze, troubleshoot, and perform root cause analysis on security incidents related to AI, coupled with strong communication skills and stakeholder collaboration.
