Job description
About the Role
Select Roofing & Cladding Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist to join their expanding HR team based primarily in Dublin, with responsibilities also covering Allenwood and various project sites. This full-time, permanent position involves a hands-on operation role where you will be the second-in-command within the HR function, working closely with the Head of HR and Marketing as well as the HR and Office Operations Coordinator to support multiple group companies across Ireland and the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing routine employee relations tasks including attendance management, probation periods, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and grievance processes.
- Conducting comprehensive recruitment processes for operative, junior, and mid-level roles with a focus on direct candidate sourcing and fulfilling recurring trade staffing needs.
- Implementing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs), probation frameworks, and performance review systems, while coaching managers for effective execution.
- Overseeing the employee lifecycle from induction through daily benefit coordination and continual support.
- Coordinating operational learning and development activities and maintaining a Group-wide skills and competency matrix.
- Providing prompt and effective HR assistance for employees and management across office and field locations including project sites.
- Leading HR improvement initiatives such as applicant tracking system implementation, creating manager toolkits, adopting HR tools like Chime, and enhancing recruitment processes.
- Supporting the establishment and growth of UK HR practices, including recruitment and onboarding as the UK operation develops.
Candidate Profile
- Possess between three and five years of relevant HR experience with a solid foundation in employee relations and recruitment.
- Sound knowledge of Irish employment law and the ability to independently handle routine HR issues.
- Experienced in coaching managers on matters such as performance management, attendance challenges, and managing difficult conversations.
- A strong recruitment skill set, with a proactive approach to candidate sourcing beyond reliance on recruitment agencies.
- Sound judgment skills to distinguish between resolvable issues, those requiring formal processes, and situations needing escalation.
- Effective written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a reliable follow-through on tasks and commitments.
- Confidence in establishing credibility with site-based employees, operational managers, and senior leadership.
- Possession of a full driving license and a willingness to regularly travel between Dublin, Allenwood, and other operational sites.
Preferred Experience
Experience within operationally demanding industries such as construction, engineering, manufacturing, facilities management, logistics, hospitality, or retail is beneficial though not mandatory. UK HR experience is not required.
Work Environment and Culture
This role suits individuals who are approachable, pragmatic, and action-driven. Candidates who thrive by understanding business realities, adapting to fast-changing priorities, constructively challenging management without excessive bureaucracy, and seeking impactful ownership will fit well within this environment.
Benefits & Opportunities
- Meaningful and substantive second-in-command position within HR, providing significant ownership rather than support-only functions.
- Exposure to growing companies within the construction and engineering groups.
- Opportunity to influence and refine established HR frameworks throughout the business.
- Experience the expansion into UK and international HR fields as the group grows.
- A supportive HR team environment with dedicated coordination and system administration assistance.
Additional Information
The role will mostly be office and site-based with limited flexible hybrid options depending on business needs.
Select Roofing & Cladding Ltd. is an equal opportunity employer welcoming applicants with diverse operational backgrounds and assesses candidates based solely on role-relevant capabilities.
