About the Role
The Senior General Accountant at Reef Group in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations with precision and analytical rigor. The role ensures the accurate recording of all financial transactions, the preparation of periodic financial reports, support during period-end closings, and compliance with established accounting standards and internal controls. This position plays a vital part in providing reliable financial information and improving the effectiveness of the organization's financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Review journal entries and general ledger accounts daily, analyze financial activities, and correct inconsistencies.
- Ensure accurate recording and proper classification of accounting transactions in accordance with accrual accounting principles.
- Compile and examine monthly and quarterly financial reports and assist in preparing financial statements.
- Perform periodic bank reconciliations, verify that balances are accurate, and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
- Track accounts receivable and payable, verifying accuracy and supporting documentation.
- Manage fixed asset records and compute depreciation periodically as per company policy.
- Assist in monthly and year-end closing processes and prepare necessary supporting schedules.
- Maintain adherence to internal controls and strengthen the financial control framework.
- Provide necessary documentation and support during internal and external financial audits.
- Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes to boost efficiency and reduce errors.
- Collaborate with other departments to validate financial transactions and ensure complete documentation.
- Support enhancements to ERP accounting systems to improve data quality.
- Keep up to date with the latest accounting standards and apply changes to daily accounting activities.
- Carry out other accounting duties as assigned by the Head of General Accounting.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Between 2 to 4 years of experience in general accounting roles.
- Expertise in journal entry processing, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of local and international accounting standards.
- Proficient with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Strong capability to handle day-to-day accounting functions and meet strict deadlines.
- Advanced skills in Excel and financial analysis.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills within a finance department.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
