About WeMaintain
Founded in 2017 by Benoît Dupont and Jade Francine, WeMaintain is revolutionizing building maintenance by prioritizing quality, autonomy for technicians, and cutting-edge IoT technology. Operating across Paris, London, Singapore, and Hong Kong, the company manages lifts, escalators, automatic doors, and fire safety systems with over 350 employees. Since April 2026, Otis has become the majority shareholder, enabling WeMaintain to expand its mission while maintaining its core values and team.
Why Join Us?
WeMaintain offers a balanced environment combining stability with significant impact, fostering autonomy through modern tools and a culture of trust, transparency, and respect. The team values commitment, perseverance, and initiative, and offers genuine growth and internal mobility opportunities.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Fullstack Engineer who takes ownership of problems holistically, from initial problem definition to design, implementation, and production deployment. This hands-on role involves close collaboration with product managers, CTO, CPO, and operational teams within a flexible and dynamic Product & Engineering (ProdEng) structure, reporting to the VP of Engineering.
Technology Stack
- Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS with a microservices mono-repo architecture and custom toolchains.
- API: Federated GraphQL API providing a unified interface.
- Infrastructure: AWS with infrastructure-as-code, employing EKS for major services and Lambda for others.
- Data: PostgreSQL with TypeORM, BigQuery with dbt and Looker, plus custom time-series processing for IoT data.
- Frontend: Angular micro-frontends for back office and customer platforms; React Native app for field engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive feature development end-to-end including problem definition, solution design, implementation, and production rollout.
- Work across full stack layers, with flexibility to handle backend or frontend tasks as needed.
- Collaborate directly with PMs, executives, and operational staff to influence product direction and delivery.
- Continuously contribute to and improve engineering standards, tooling, mono-repo workflows, and production resilience.
Planned Focus Areas
- Standardize extensive failure taxonomies for lifts to automate diagnostics and quoting workflows.
- Convert large-scale real-time IoT telemetry into actionable insights alongside data science and hardware teams.
- Develop agent-in-the-loop workflows enhancing operational support beyond simple chatbot solutions.
Use of AI
Embracing AI tools to enhance development productivity and capability; engineers are encouraged to leverage AI to improve outcomes responsibly.
Industry Context
The role involves complex interactions within a tightly coupled system that integrates failure data, device status, customer contracts, and varied regional regulations, directly impacting field operations and user experiences.
Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of experience delivering production software with end-to-end ownership.
- Comfortable across the full software stack, adaptable to varying tasks.
- Strong expertise in TypeScript and modern backend architecture principles.
- Focus on building reliable and maintainable software designed first for user value.
- Ability to engage productively with non-technical stakeholders independently.
- Self-driven, proactive in maintaining close team communication in a fully remote environment.
Desirable Extras
- Experience running or starting initiatives with a strong sense of ownership and impact.
- Proven delivery of React Native apps used in challenging environments.
- Background in operations-heavy industries such as field service, logistics, or industrial sectors.
- Practical AI workflow implementation experience.
- Development of internal tools, code generation, or enhancing developer experience adopted by peers.
- Handling IoT, telemetry, or time-series data at scale.
Why This Role Stands Out
This position uniquely blends meaningful technical challenges, ownership responsibilities, and the chance to create work that visibly affects users, within a growing, well-supported remote team backed by Otis.
Recruitment Process
- Initial 15-minute introductory call with CIO.
- Technical interview with a senior engineer (60 minutes).
- Problem discussion session with CTO and senior engineer after a brief preparation (90 minutes).
- Final comprehensive interview covering working style, expectations, collaboration, and culture (90 minutes).
Additional Information
This opportunity is fully remote within Europe with a remote-first culture supported by virtual collaboration tools and regular in-person meetups thrice yearly.
