Job description

About NVIDIA

NVIDIA has been revolutionizing computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for over 25 years through innovation and cutting-edge technology. The company is currently pioneering the future of computing with artificial intelligence, positioning GPUs as the central processors for computers, robots, and autonomous vehicles capable of understanding their environments. NVIDIA fosters a diverse and supportive workplace where employees are empowered to make a significant and lasting impact.

Role Overview

As a Senior Formal Verification Engineer at NVIDIA, you will be entrusted with verifying cutting-edge ASIC designs using formal verification techniques. Your responsibilities include defining verification scopes, ensuring design correctness, and utilizing advanced formal methods to obtain bounded proofs. You will collaborate closely with architects, designers, and both pre- and post-silicon verification teams to enhance formal verification methodologies and streamline workflows. Your role extends through the full project lifecycle, delivering rigorous formal verification results on schedule while effectively communicating findings to the broader team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead verification efforts of complex AI-related ASIC designs and features through formal verification methodologies.
  • Collaborate across functions with architecture and RTL teams to define verification properties, resolve critical design challenges, and influence micro-architecture decisions.
  • Execute formal verification to rigorously validate key design properties, ensure specification compliance, and reduce ambiguities.
  • Convey formal verification coverage results clearly to collaborators and stakeholders.
  • Drive methodology development by creating advanced formal verification environments and automated flows for complex ASICs to boost scalability and efficiency.
  • Mentor junior engineers in formal techniques and standard processes, contributing to documentation and best practices.
  • Support silicon bring-up and debugging efforts using formal methods when applicable.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree (BS, MS, or PhD) or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 12 years of experience in ASIC verification, with a minimum of 8 years specializing in formal verification methods.
  • Expert knowledge of SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA) and formal property verification.
  • Proficiency with at least one widely used formal verification tool, such as JasperGold or VC Formal.
  • Strong scripting abilities for automation purposes using languages like Tcl or Python.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Distinguishing Attributes

  • Proven track record of successfully completing full-cycle formal sign-offs for complex ASIC designs.
  • Expertise in diverse formal applications including Formal Property Verification (FPV), sequential equivalence checking, and datapath verification.
  • In-depth knowledge of GPU or LPU architecture and design principles.

Compensation and Additional Information

NVIDIA is recognized as a highly desirable employer, offering competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees and their families. The base salary range for this position is CAD 195,000 to CAD 245,000, determined by location, experience, and internal pay equity. Opportunities for equity participation and benefits are also included.
