About The Role

We are seeking a proficient Senior Façade Engineer to join our expanding Christchurch office. The ideal candidate will demonstrate solid technical expertise in façade and secondary structural systems, including refurbishment of existing panels. Key Responsibilities

• Provide façade consultancy services including PS1, PS2, and PS4 for New Zealand projects.
• Lead façade design, project management, delivery, and implementation for complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Focus on delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions tailored to clients and project needs.
• Evaluate contractor submissions such as shop drawings and structural calculations.
• Research materials and products, coordinating with suppliers and contractors.
• Communicate effectively with developers and architects professionally.
• Possess thorough comprehension of applicable standards and codes, with proficiency in New Zealand codes and progressing towards Auckland Council registration.
• Ensure accuracy, quality, and timely completion of personal deliverables.
• Supervise and review output from junior engineers and drafters.
• Take leadership roles in design team and site meetings.
• Manage daily communication with design teams and contractors.
• Collaborate with other façade teams within BG&E.
• Report daily to the Façade Lead and maintain close coordination with the Christchurch Lead.
• Support engineering calculations and reviews, including H1 thermal analyses as the discipline expands within New Zealand.

Depending on experience and ambition, responsibilities may broaden to include project management and business development activities, with potential for advancement to senior roles.

Project Management

• Lead both the design and commercial delivery aspects of various façade projects.
• Assist with resource allocation and project scheduling.
• Support management of project financial performance.
• Participate in contract evaluations and subconsultant engagements.

Operations and Business Development

• Collaborate with the Façade Lead and Christchurch Lead to strengthen BG&E’s façade brand in the South Island.
• Assist in identifying and pursuing new projects and follow-up opportunities.
• Develop proposals and bids for potential contracts.
• Foster direct relationships with client organization managers.
• Engage in internal initiatives to enhance business processes.

Candidate Profile

• Degree-qualified in Structural or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related manufacturing/engineering field.
• Demonstrated façade design or engineering experience; either chartered or actively working towards chartership.
• A diverse portfolio showcasing involvement in small to large-scale projects and a variety of façade types.
• Strong understanding of national and international design codes and local council compliance pathways.
• Exceptional knowledge of façade systems, construction methods, procurement, and risk evaluation.
• Versatile skills encompassing detail design, structural and building physics, testing, inspections, investigations, and site work.
• Outstanding interpersonal abilities with confidence in influencing colleagues, clients, design teams, and contractors.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Capacity to inspire teamwork and motivate team members.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
