Role Overview

We seek a Senior Estimator for a major UK infrastructure programme to join an established, high-performing project controls team. This permanent, full-time position based in Bristol combines home, office, and client site work with flexible working and core hours.

The role involves managing and overseeing cost control across diverse contracts, from small works to contracts worth hundreds of millions, cumulatively part of a multi-billion-pound initiative. This is a senior role within a complex, multi-contract environment requiring close collaboration within a forward-thinking team emphasizing cost intelligence, digital tools, and consistent stakeholder reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage cost planning and cost control across multiple infrastructure contracts within a portfolio.
  • Support the progression from estimation to procurement, ensuring budgets are aligned and costs are forecast with certainty.
  • Review programme budgets regularly and track forecasted expenditures.
  • Engage with the supply chain to assess quotations and perform cost benchmarking.
  • Generate and maintain transparent, consistent cost reports directed at various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, commercial, and project teams to enhance cost accuracy.
  • Provide structured cost reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior team members, particularly in digital cost intelligence methodologies.
  • Ensure clear, consistent communication and data uniformity across multidisciplinary projects.

Candidate Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in large infrastructure, energy, or complex capital projects.
  • Proven skills in cost forecasting, budgeting, and procurement support.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple stakeholders and disciplines, demonstrating strong influencing and communications capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex cost data into actionable insights.
  • Experience working at a senior level, supporting both operational teams and leadership groups.
  • Familiarity with digital cost tools and reporting software such as Power BI and SQL is an advantage.
  • A collaborative and improvement-oriented mindset focused on best practices.
  • Qualifications such as HNC, HND, or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Law, or related fields, or substantial relevant experience from other disciplines like Engineering.
  • Professional memberships or qualifications with RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS, or similar are desirable and supported if not yet attained.

Benefits and Support

  • Clear career progression with training and support for further qualifications.
  • Excellent networking opportunities to develop industry relationships and personal brand.
  • Generous paid holiday allowance with the option to purchase additional days.
  • Competitive salary with regular review opportunities.
  • Employee Assistance Program for health and well-being support.
  • Flexible working arrangements to promote work-life balance.
  • Volunteer opportunities with local communities and charities.
  • Strong backing from central teams in a globally recognized Great Place to Work.
