About the Role

Join a well-established South Australian commercial building company known for strong relationships, quality work, and supportive leadership. This privately owned firm employs around 35 staff and offers stability alongside a close-knit team culture in the Adelaide region.

The Senior Estimator will contribute to a varied portfolio of commercial building projects ranging from $5 million to $15 million, working in a team of four to five professionals. You'll have the backing of experienced management and approachable directors, within a collaborative setting where your expertise is valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Create precise and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects valued between $5M and $15M.
• Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documents thoroughly.
• Develop detailed cost plans, prepare bills of quantities, and finalize tender submissions.
• Identify and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to collect, assess, and negotiate quotes.
• Recognize commercial risks, uncover cost-saving options, and propose value engineering solutions.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and company Directors.
• Manage tender timelines efficiently while ensuring accuracy and commercial competitiveness.
• Support smooth project handovers and ongoing delivery processes.

Candidate Profile

• At least five years of estimating experience in the building and construction sector.
• Direct experience with a commercial builder or head contractor, rather than subcontracting firms alone.
• Proven track record estimating commercial projects ideally within the $5M to $15M bracket.
• Sound understanding of commercial construction methods, costs, and tender procedures.
• Competency in interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.
• Strong commercial insight accompanied by excellent negotiation and analytical abilities.
• Established relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and well-organized approach to work.
• Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively in teams.
