Senior Engineering Manager - Threat Protection

About the Role

Join Mimecast as a Senior Engineering Manager leading the Gateway Security team, a vital part of the Threat Protection group. This team innovates on cutting-edge scanning technology that underpins Mimecast's security solutions, processing over 2 billion emails, files, and URLs daily using advanced AWS technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with globally distributed teams including Product Managers, Project Managers, Architects, and Engineers to set project goals and deliverables.
• Partner with HR and recruitment to attract and nurture top-tier engineering talent.
• Manage teams handling scalable on-premise and cloud technology environments.
• Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure reliable project execution.
• Build a collaborative and innovative team culture promoting effective communication and knowledge exchange.
• Lead continuous process improvements, enforcing coding standards and best practices for high-quality software development.
• Analyze AWS usage collaboratively with senior leaders and engineering teams to recommend cost optimization measures.

Candidate Profile

• Excellent communication skills to translate technical issues clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven project leadership skills throughout all phases of complex projects ensuring timely delivery.
• Strong technical expertise in backend software engineering and large-scale system design within AWS environments.
• Experience in building and scaling efficient engineering teams, including recruitment, onboarding, and career development.
• Ability to define and uphold coding standards and quality assurance processes for sustainable software quality.
• Familiarity with managing hybrid cloud infrastructures is advantageous.
