Role Overview

You will join the Unreal Cloud Services group, working on Lore—our next-gen, open-source version control system that shapes the future of game development. Your role sits at the intersection of the Unreal Editor and cloud, simplifying distributed collaboration, version control, and workflows to become an intuitive part of the creator's day-to-day experience. As we progress toward Unreal Engine 6, your work will unify these features within the editor environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Unreal Editor functionalities that integrate cloud-enabled collaboration seamlessly into creator workflows.
  • Design and implement editor experiences that are responsive and work smoothly with asynchronous distributed services.
  • Collaborate across editor, networking, storage, revision control, and user experience systems to create natural cloud-supported workflows.
  • Work closely with Product and UX teams to transform concepts into well-polished, user-friendly editor features.
  • Coordinate with backend and infrastructure engineers on features spanning both editor and cloud services.
  • Apply modern development techniques, including AI-assisted programming, to enhance debugging and iteration speed.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proficient in C++ with extensive experience working within large native codebases.
  • Proven track record designing user-facing tools, editor features, and managing complex interactive workflows.
  • Experience building client applications that interact with asynchronous or networked services.
  • Strong knowledge of parallelism, networking principles, latency management, and resilient failure handling.
  • Keen awareness of user experience impacts on creative workflows from a technical perspective.
  • Collaborative experience engaging with Product, UX, and engineering teams to deliver quality features.
  • Background with Unreal Engine, other game engines, or similar tools development environments.
  • Rust programming experience is considered an advantage.
