Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with 7 to 10 years of professional engineering experience to join a premier tier-one contractor based in Abu Dhabi. The role involves leading key electrical and MEP activities on expansive rail and linear infrastructure projects, serving as a technical liaison between design consultants, execution teams, subcontractors, and local regulatory bodies.

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee and finalize electrical submittals, design evaluations, value engineering initiatives, and method statements ensuring alignment with client expectations and contractual standards.
• Lead the engineering drafting team in creating, reviewing, and approving precise shop drawings, single-line diagrams, layouts, and cable routing schedules using BIM/Revit, ensuring effective coordination across structural, architectural, and MEP disciplines.
• Support procurement efforts by preparing material take-offs, verifying bills of quantities, conducting technical bid evaluations, and ensuring compliance documentation for electrical suppliers and subcontractors.
• Manage coordination for obtaining all necessary technical approvals from UAE authorities such as ADDC, Civil Defence, DOT/ITC, and comply with international rail regulations.
• Deliver onsite technical assistance by resolving RFIs, addressing technical queries, managing site non-conformance reports, and supporting testing and commissioning activities for high, medium, and low voltage electrical systems.
• Supervise subcontractors to ensure technical compliance, timely progress, and adherence to approved shop drawings to meet project timelines.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Between 7 and 10 years of electrical engineering experience, with a substantive background in large-scale rail, metro, transit, or major infrastructure projects including depots, stations, tunnels, highways, and power infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience working with Tier 1 Contractors or consultancies on complex infrastructure projects.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Low Voltage, Medium Voltage, Extra Low Voltage systems, lighting, earthing and lightning protection, and traction power equipment.
• Proficiency in BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design tools such as ETAP, Dialux, Amtech, or their equivalents.
• Strong understanding of international rail standards including NFPA, UIC, IEC, IEEE, as well as regional UAE codes like ADDC and Civil Defence.
• At least 3 to 5 years of direct project delivery experience within the UAE or broader GCC territory.
• Possess exemplary leadership qualities, technical communication skills, commercial insight, and stakeholder management capabilities suited to fast-paced, deadline-driven project environments.
