Senior Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our Brisbane office is expanding and we seek a seasoned Senior Electrical Engineer at the associate level to direct electrical design and project teams from initial concept through construction phases. You will lead a dedicated, multidisciplinary group supported by BSE’s national network.

Your work will engage with sectors such as commercial, residential, aged care, and government projects including significant Queensland developments like the 450 Queen Street Redevelopment, Windsor Inner North Secondary School, Moreton Bay & Caloundra TAFE Centres of Excellence, Vila at East Village, Cannon Hill, Rio Tinto Fitout, Midtown, QIC Fitout, and the Elysium Noosa Resort.

Key Responsibilities

• Take charge of designing electrical systems for building services projects.
• Develop comprehensive design documentation for all electrical facets including power, lighting, communications, and security aligned with project scopes.
• Participate throughout all stages of projects from tendering, design delivery, to supporting construction phases.
• Perform design calculations and prepare briefs adhering to schedules and budgets.
• Engage with clients across the project lifecycle via meetings, site visits, and consultations.
• Assume project leadership duties and facilitate coordination within multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead project teams by supervising and reviewing the work of engineers and designers.
• Draft technical documents, specifications, and formal reports.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and project success.
• Ensure designs conform with relevant codes, standards, and quality expectations.
• Foster and sustain strong professional relationships with clients and internal teams.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers through hands-on leadership.
• Continuously update and expand your technical expertise in electrical engineering.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of seven years’ experience in electrical engineering, preferably within Australian building services consultancy.
• Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams.
• Track record of delivering electrical projects from inception through to construction completion.
• Degree or higher qualification in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Registered or pursuing registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, Australian National Construction Code, and applicable standards.
• Experience navigating multidisciplinary projects and managing client relationships.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively, developing productive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Commitment to mentoring and professional growth of junior staff.
• Expertise with relevant engineering design software and technical tools.
