Senior Electrical Engineer - Data Center Construction

Overview

This role entails overseeing electrical engineering and construction activities specifically for data center projects, ensuring timely and safe installation while meeting stringent project and quality requirements.

Key Duties

• Develop, assess, and approve technical documents including shop drawings, method statements, and material inspection requests.
• Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to troubleshoot and resolve design and on-site challenges.
• Review Bills of Quantities, aid in material procurement and logistics follow-up.
• Prepare accurate as-built drawings and documentation for project handover.
• Lead and supervise installation of medium/high and low voltage electrical systems such as transformers, switchgear, busducts, cable trays, and power cables.
• Manage deployment of critical power components including UPS units, generators, automatic transfer switches, and power distribution units.
• Monitor subcontractors' performance ensuring progress, quality, and safety adherence.
• Guarantee installations comply with approved designs, specifications, and relevant electrical standards.
• Apply quality assurance and control protocols; conduct inspections to ensure work meets specifications.
• Facilitate and support testing phases including pre-commissioning, commissioning, and closing of punch lists.
• Validate installation quality and prepare systems for formal handover.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; professional certifications such as UPDA are preferable.
• At least 10 years of experience in electrical construction, with a minimum of 2 years focused on data center or mission-critical facility projects.
• Deep understanding of MV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and data center electrical infrastructure.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit software, with solid skills in interpreting electrical schematics and single line diagrams.

Preferred Experience

• Hands-on experience with hyperscale data center projects involving companies such as Microsoft, AWS, Google, Meta, or Oracle.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier Standards and related commissioning procedures.
